Sacred Basden (She/Her)

Communications & Events Lead

Originally from Bermuda, she brings a strong grounding in political studies, justice, and equity, as well as a deep passion for storytelling, relationship-building, and community engagement. Sacred is a passionate communicator who thrives when connecting with others; whether she’s hosting a Sea Change information booth, coordinating a conference, or engaging with changemakers at events across the province.

Since graduating from Mount Saint Vincent University in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Studies, Sacred has immersed herself in the work of access, equity, and transformation. Since starting this position, she’s completed numerous trainings in artificial intelligence and content creation/marketing, which she uses to craft communications that are both clear and deeply inclusive. Her role at Sea Change includes coordinating accessible, values-aligned events and developing thoughtful messaging that reflects the communities Sea Change serves.

Sacred is also actively building her skills in project management: she has completed her 30 hours of training toward her Project Management Professional Certificate and intends to pursue both her CAPM and PMP certifications between 2025 and 2026. She serves on the Board of Directors for reachAbility, a Halifax-based organization working to break down barriers and support equity in communities.

Hungry to grow and committed to learning every day, Sacred brings curiosity, care, and a vibrant sense of purpose to everything she does. She plays a key role in ensuring Sea Change’s work is welcoming, reflective, and responsive.

Sacred loves:

  • Reading Fantasy Novels
  • Knitting
  • Game nights and potlucks with her friends
